CHAIRMAN'S

Welcome Message

UWelcome to the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL)—the premier platform for commercial law professionals in Nigeria.

As Chairman, I am honoured to lead this dynamic community of over 6,000 members, encompassing seasoned legal experts, emerging practitioners, and thought leaders dedicated to advancing business law practice in Nigeria.

Since our inception in 2004, the NBA-SBL has been at the forefront of promoting excellence in commercial law. Our mission is to deliver qualitative business law services to the public, foster continuing legal education, and facilitate the exchange of knowledge among professionals.

Our structure comprises 26 specialised committees covering diverse sectors such as Banking & Finance, Energy & Natural Resources, Intellectual Property, and Technology. These committees are instrumental in shaping policy, organising training sessions, and providing insights into their respective fields.

The NBA-SBL is renowned for its flagship events, notably the Annual Business Law Conference. The 19th edition, themed “The Future of Business Law in an Intelligence Age,” in July 2025, attracting thousands of participants and featuring over 20 sessions addressing critical issues in business law in this age and era of rapid Intelligence.

We also host regular webinars, workshops, and masterclasses, such as the Business Law bi-Monthly series, industry-focused trainings and stakeholders’ engagement forums and sessions, to ensure our members remain abreast of industry developments.

Our commitment to collaboration is evident in our partnerships with organisations like the Law Society of England and Wales, with whom we co-hosted workshops on international arbitration and leadership in January 2025.

As we celebrate over 20 years of impactful service, we invite you to explore our website, engage with our resources, and become an active member of our community.

Together, let us continue to elevate the standards of business law practice in Nigeria and beyond.

Warm regards,

Ozofu ‘Latunde Ogiemudia
Chairman,
